The bench looks nice but is made poorly. When putting it together the screw heads snapped and we can not get the replacement screws anywhere. We again called the customer service number enclosed and no one calls back. The bench is also weak, it bend when my two young sons sit on it.

Adesso Piedmont Combo Torchiere, Black Review

My trusty $20 torchiere from Target that I have used for years recently broke, and I wanted to replace it with a similar floor lamp. I was specifically looking for one with a flexible gooseneck reading lamp like my old one, but there were very few of those available at an affordable price. I saw this Adesso model here on Amazon, read the reviews, and thought it was perfect.

It was really simple to assemble; all you have to do is twist the poles and the shades into place with no additional tools. The shades are made of white translucent plastic, which is fine by me, but at this price range I would have expected something nicer, like glass. When I finished setting up the lamp, I was very disappointed by the gooseneck lamp. It's not as long as I thought it would be, and although it's flexible, it doesn't hold its position very well. It kind of droops down from whatever position you configure it in.

I was most disappointed by the type of bulbs the lamp accepts though. There's big bold words on the box that reads, "Do not use halogen bulbs, only standard". No where on the product page here on Amazon mentioned this. Who in their right mind would want to use standard, energy wasting bulbs when CFLs are so widely available now? I tried installing CFL bulbs anyways, and was relieved it accepted them.

Ok, so I screwed in my CFLs, which were all mini 15W (60W equiv.), but there wasn't enough room for them in the main lamp. Not only that, the CFLs stuck out hideously over the shade because it's not high enough to cover them. I then tried standard bulbs, and found they were dangerously close to each other, creating a potential fire hazard. After much frustration and trying to figure what to do next, I discovered the bulb sockets could be re-adjusted so that the CFLs would fit and the shade would be able to cover them. I don't think they were meant to be adjustable, but I'm glad they could be. I asked my big strong uncle to help me do so, re-installed the CFLs, and the lamp was *near* perfect.

So if you're planning to purchase this lamp, be aware that it wasn't made for CFLs, and you'll have to do some re-adjusting to the lamp if you plan to use them. With all its problems, I really do like the look of this lamp, and I also like how there is only one on/off switch located right in the middle on the pole, used for both lamps. Its placement is convenient because I don't have to stand up when I'm in bed to turn the lamp on or off.

this is a really nice tree bench. I put it around a lamp in our yard.
It seems fairly sturdy, but it is rather short. You might want to put it on pavers or other elevation to make it a comfortableheight for most people to sit, but for a quick place to perch it is fine.

I ordered 3 of these barstools to go in my new house. I was a little scared because I was not able to see them in a store first but it was a pleasant surprise. I love them! There was no assembly required so that made my husband very happy also. They look beautiful and are very high quality. The only down side is I had to pay for shipping. Okay, so you get what you pay for.The lamp works, the shade is acceptable, although cheaply made (the seam is very noticeable), and the base is ugly as a red-headed step child.Not even close to being the color of teak...sort of a muddy espresso brown.
It still provides the ambient light we wanted, so we kept it but hid it behind a big plant!

I missed this issue and had to buy it from a friend who have subscription and I never regret having this. I have thrown several issue of TIMEs away, but not this one. It show no prejudism and no bias against anyone. It depict famous people from huge range, not just scientist in physics and mathematic. To me it's worthwhile having this issue. Believe me I going to keep this issue for my grandchildrens. :)

We ordered this sofa and matching ottoman on Target.com with a discount we recieved via email.It has far exceeded our expectations!
I read all the reviews and they are dead on.The upholstery IS darker.The cushions are firm and comfortable. It's very nice.The frame is solid and the fabric luxurious.

The only problem we had is with the freight conractor that Target used being slow to communicate. But, it did arrive in one piece and was easy to put together (having 2 people helped).

If you are thinking about this couch....go ahead! You won't be sorry.

It's high quality and affordable! This is very durable and looks like it costs twice as much.I would buy it all over again! We love it!

This works very well with our gentle motions bassinet by Cariboo. We find that it is a little trouble to keep taking it off and putting it on, so we probably don't use it as much as we should, but when we do, it's very convenient. It comes with a "toweling liner" that is kind of ridiculous. It is the size of a hand towel, and it isn't waterproof, so if your baby has an accident, it leaks through it easily. I wouldn't purchase any of these extra liners from Cariboo ($$$), but I do recommend the Snoozy Organic Flannel Cotton Waterproof Multi Use Pad - 2 Pack. They work very well with it. All in all, it's a bit pricey, but if you have the Cariboo bassinet anyway, it's worth the added cost.

Overall, we are very happy with this purchase. It's a very sturdy, solid unit, and it looks like a quality piece thanks to it's real-wood veneer (can't be certain it's real wood, but it looks real to me). We also love the clean-line design, and it has the room we need to house all our components (DVD player, XBox, Wii, Set-Top-Box, and Receiver), XBox and Wii paraphernalia, and DVDs. AND the price didn't break the bank.

The upper compartments measure 20"D, 29 1/4"W (opening is 27 3/4"W), 10 7/8"H (opening is 8 3/8"H) . The drawers measure 15 1/4D, 25 1/2"W, 6"H. In the drawers, you can store two rows of DVDs with approximately 44 DVDs in each row. The one downside is that the drawers don't slide out all the way, so in order to access the back row, you need to pull out the DVDs in the front row.

I gave this 4 stars because we had three total snags, two with assembly. First, when we received the unit, two pieces were damaged and one had a flaw. When we received the replacement pieces, those, too, were damaged (But not nearly as bad nor as noticeable as the original pieces, so we kept them). The replacements were packed EXTREMELY well, so I can only guess that the damage happened before they wrapped it for shipping. I must say, however, that Customer Service was excellent; we got the replacement pieces free of charge with no problem.

Regarding assembly, for the long horizontal shelf piece, you have to hammer in a peg from the underside. If you're not really careful, you'll push the veneer up on the top side. (We fixed it by gluing the veneer back down; not perfect, but it's in a location that's not readily visible). Second, one of the drawers didn't fit because the drawer opening was around 1/8" too big. (I was able to fix this by attaching a 1/8" thick strip of wood to the drawer side, and then attached the drawer slide on top of that).

Despite the snags, we're very happy we purchased this, and we would do so again.

I've had these barstools for a day or two now, and after assembling them and testing them out I'm definitely glad I got them. They are really high quality, and the seats are very comfortable.

Setup was easy enough to figure out, luckily, as the instructions were poorly translated and I believe referred to an older model.

My only real complaint is that the cross members don't align perfectly, and need to be rotated a bit to get a snug fit.

I'd also recommend the use of a power drill to put the screws in, as you'll want them nice and tight. I wasn't able to get enough torque from just a simple screwdriver.

Overall though, these chairs were a great find and I'd recommend them to anyone who wants a really sharp looking and comfortable barstool.

(Sidenote: the seats are real leather. Don't listen to that other review.)

We purchased this lamp to use as a work light for doing crafts, reading, etc.Its main virtues are that it has halogen bulbs that can be oriented and the brightness can be adjusted.The lamp is very elegant and made of good materials.It came in a large box but needed to be assembled.We never could find the instructions but eventually figured out how to assemble it.The one problem was that where the top part fit into the main stand we should have placed a large screw; however, the hole was misshaped so we could not insert the screw.This does not affect the function of the lamp as long as you are not in the habit of carrying it around by the top.If you do the bottom might fall off.Overall, this lamp seems to be a good value.Especially when compared to the really junky lamps out there.

I received this set today, and assembled it all by myself.I'm a petite frame person so that's saying a lot.It was extremely easy to assemble.The workmanship is flawless.I've had harder times assembling desks and bookshelves!!! I am soooo pleased with this set, I can't even put it into words.This was my biggest purchase over the internet, so I really dove into this one.I don't think I could have found a better set if I'd gone to the furniture store and picked out something.It is an excellent value for the quality of the furniture.The finish is really a golden cherry, a little on the dark side if you're wondering.The upholstery isn't the prettiest, but you can change it easily. I bought this bench for my entryway, and I'm really happy with the purchase. I can fit 4 pairs of shoes/boots underneath it. It's comfortable to sit on, and feels sturdy. I also didn't find it too difficult to put together. I'm very happy with my purchase, and I'm glad that I decided to get this bench (together with two microfiber ottomans) instead of a shoe rack. The color of the wood is very pretty. It is not as dark as it appears in the picture, but it isn't light either.

TITAN TBL 36X48X30 WLNUT FIN Review

First off the pro is once you get it assembled this drafting table looks nice and it functions (crappily), but unfortunately that is where the pros end with this table.

Adjusting the table top angle is rather awkward and more difficult than it should be. You can't just lift the top and have it stay in position like many of the tables I've used at school. There are knobs that must be tightened down or loosened up on each side of the table in order to adjust the height. This is a pain, as you must hold the table top up in place while simultaneously tightening the height adjusting knobs.

The table top will not close flat. The tables design causes the top to tilt forward when at rest against the frame. So in order to have the table top level, you must go through the same procedure of adjusting the knobs while holding the heavy table top at the desired position.

Assembling the frame to the table top was poorly thought out in terms of design. The frame must be screwed into the table top itself. You must line up the brackets (which hold the tilting mechanisms to the top and frame) according to the instructions. The instructions only provide a rough set of measurements to do this. Doing this portion of the assembly precisely is not easy. Doing this incorrectly will cause the tilting mechanisms to jam up during adjustment or bend them and render them unusable. To top it off, you pretty much only have one chance to get this portion of the assembly right. As the screws that secure the top and frame, go directly into the top itself. Thus making it prohibitive to disassemble and reassemble should you need to more than a couple times.

Screwing the frame to the top requires a great deal of hand strength to push the screws into the table top if you don't own a drill. Even with a drill this would have been an awkward process due to how the brackets would obstruct the path of most drills. You could use a drill to start the screw holes but since the top is some type of composite board and not very thick, you have to be careful. The table designer should have devised and implemented a much more reliable way to assemble the table top to the frame. There aren't even spots marked off on the table where you should screw it together....... I could go on and on about the deplorable state of this table's design. I won't continue to describe the inanity of it any further. To do so would be a futile and fruitless endeavor in trying to understand and comprehend the sheer stupidity, laziness and cheapness of the design.

In short: Unless this is going for under $100 I'd avoid purchasing this table unless you have few other options.

I bought this on a whim because it was on sale for almost nothing, and I like blue light, plasmaspheres and those kind of products.

I didn't care for the dolphin idea, but I liked the blue light.

I do like it and keep it on all the time in a dark corner.It pleases me and I like the light effect, but the lamp really is objectively ugly/tacky/cheap/'kitchy' in all respects.

The base is not black, but a faux plastic ocean wave that looks so terrible.The Dolphin shape is dumb.Overall ... again ... Tacky!BUT I LOVE IT... what can I say .... Elegant it is not.Subtle it's not. Classy, cute, charming ... none of them apply.

You gotta just like it for what it is.If you like blue plasma light effect and don't care about the shape, it's great.

It's truly awful ... but I love it! lol

JUST FOUND OUT: THIS IS WHAT I ORDERED, BUT THE ONE I GOT IS [...]

I bought this for my 18 month old son and he absolutely loves it.
I was worried the table would be too tall for him but he has managed to get himself up into the chairs very easily.
The nice thing about this set is that it would look as good in your living room as it would in a play room. I can see kids using it to both eat on and draw on.
The packaging and shipment were great too. It comes flat packed in a small box so you are not left to contend with a bunch of waste.
I would reccomend using a power screwdriverto speed up assembly but it is pretty simple to do so.
Yes, it is expensive but 1,000 times nicer than the plastic junk or cheap press board out there. I can see us getting many years of use out of this table and chairs.

I needed to get a desk for drawing and computer (laptop) work in a small space for a few months. This is the only somewhat ergonomic choice below $300.

Positives:
- Has no "keyboard shelf" like all other cheap desks do. The only thing those are good for is causing RSI by putting an extra 3-4 inches between your lap and the desk top.
- Simple and muted look doesn't clash with other furniture.
- Really pretty cheap, and arrived fairly quickly.

Negatives:
- Extremely poor quality control. The bracket connecting one of the legs to the horizontal bar was bent so assembling was difficult. The parts didn't fit together all the way so there's a gap between the desk top and leg assembly. One of the bolt holes in the desk top had its threads almost completely stripped so it's only held by about one rotation of the bolt. This will eventually break because the bolt is under tension due to the bad fit above.
- The air trapped inside the plastic bag the desk top was in caused my studio to reek like cigarette smoke. I've never experienced anything like this before. Whoever packed it must've been chain smoking on the job.

The chair arrived quickly. Assembly was easy, and the needed tool was supplied. To make the chair truly comfortable for daily desk use I wold need more adjustment capabilities.The arm & head rests are fixed, and too low. Lumbar support is minimal.I need to straddle the foot rest to open it; a side lever would alleviate that awkwardness. I also find the support doesn't extend as far or as high as I would like it. That said, it beats pulling out the file drawer to put up my feet, and in the partially-reclined position, I can work for hours at my monitor with the keyboard comfortably in my lap. I'd recommend it, especially for a mixed-use home office. Shop around, though. This is the same OFM-680 chair that I've seen elsewhere for significantly less.

First off let me say that you get what you pay for and that this is probably priced about right or just a little too much. I believe my expectations might have been a little high.This table is mostly veneer and light wood and I really did expect that the top would be wood.It's also strictly a 'bling' piece and wouldn't stand up long to daily use especially by children.It is also assembly furniture.It comes in four pieces, topside glass insert, top, trunk and base.It's very easy to assemble and was packaged by Powell very well.Careful of over tightening the bolts.I could here the metel insets starting to strip the wood without a lot of torque applied.

My table came triple wrapped and triple taped, as if to protect it from the next world war. No worries, it'll make it through!
After reading other peoples reviews, I felt I should comment, because to me, I feel they were slightly misleading. There were several comments as to the length of time involved for setting up the table, drilled holes being mismatched...etc...etc.
I swear, the hardest, and longest part of the whole job, was getting all the parts unwrapped. The rest of it went together as it should, with no hassles. I am a women with a history in the construction trade, so Im starting out with a bit of an advantage. But I think my Mom, who is an all alround "girly-girl", could have finished the job without calling on me or my brother. One warning, getting that plastic off was the most damage this table will probably ever recieve!! That aggrevated me a bit.
Over all however, I would order it again if need be. I like the style, width, height, the fact the little stools totally fit uder it and over the cross beams of the table. It was a good buy. But I DO NOT have any advice on how to get all the plastic wrap off. I finally settled on sawing it with a kitchen knife, because it was thin enough to get into the wrap, with minimum contact with the variuos pieces of wood.

I ordered the cariboo changing table after first ordering a cheaper changing table that came with incomplete parts and flimsy materials. Once I decided to just spend the money for this changing table I was very happy when I received it. The table was extremely simple to put together. I think it took me less than a half hour. The materials are also of a high quality - solid wood, and no particle board. Once made, the changing table is simple, sturdy and elegant. I love the fresh look of this table - it only adds to the nursery decor and even our bedroom, which is where we are now keeping the table since our baby is only 2 months old now. I have one, unfortunately not minor, complaint. Because of the beautiful design of this table, the legs extend wider than the space of the table top. This has caused me and my husband to trip on the legs on occasion when we are walking by the table. To combat this problem we moved the table so that the head end is flush against the wall and this has helped and now I rarely trip on the legs. I'm sure part of the problem is that our bedroom is very small - perhaps this would then be a better table for a larger room. Nonetheless, we have gotten used to this quirk and are for the most part happy with this table.

Purchasing a chair that has not been tried-out by simply sitting in it to test it's comfortability is ludicrous.Well, in my mind, it is. But, that's what I did. Based solely upon the manufacturer's description of the chair (and the accompanying photos), I thought, "what the hey" and ordered it up. I needed a small form factor of a chair for my garage workshop and this chair seemed to be perfect.I also need some low lumbar support when sitting for awhile.

The chair arrived quite quickly, surprising me. I expected a full 2-3 weeks worth of waiting.It came much sooner (within 3-days of the order).Assembling it was so easy, I had to recheck the assembly instructions, as I thought I had missed something. It took less than 10-minutes to assemble the chair right out of the box.

Comfortable, supportive, easy to operate, and low impact are words and phrases that describe this product. I can see where an artist would enjoy this chair. But, I'm no artist. I enjoy it when laying-out a wood project over my workbench or just taking a breather.

All-in-all I found it a great value for the price and as compared to other chairs that boast of lumbar support, etc. That short "stub" of a back works great!

Terrace Mates Aspen Folding End Table - Square Review

This folding table is not the color you see in the picture. The table in pic has a redish tint to it whereas the one I just received is a tan/brown. I bought it to match my deck chairs that look like the picture. For $80 with shipping (which was very fast) I should send it back but I'm too busy and or lazy to deal with it. I put a coat of linseed oil on it and that helped darken it a bit but of course it is still not like the photo. If you just need a little end table and don't care about the color of the wood Target has some (as of 6/09) for $30. They are like a dark grey color. Hope that helps. BTW For what it's worth the table seems to be well made.

We bought this changing table because of the attractive corner shape. When it arrived all three shelves were bent, and their front boards were detached. We first contacted the manufacturer, which was really helpful and sent replacement parts. However, when those arrived they were already damaged the same way. We returned the complete item, and are shopping for a changing table again.

Please do not waste your money on this toy box.Whoever designed this must have gone out of their way to figure out how to use the least amount of material and still be able to call it solid wood.As another reviewer noted, the panels are very thin.Look closely at the picture.The only substantial pieces of wood are at the edges of the box and the back rail.The front, back, sides, and bottom are all made of very thin wood.The lid panel is slightly thicker, but it too only has a thick piece of wood along the front, the sides having smaller pieces for reinforcement.To make matters worse, the front (lip) piece on mine was cracked about half way through, right in the center.I had to glue it and reinforce it with a piece of wood on the underside, thus negating the anti-pinch gap.I doubt that my reinforcing job will stand up to kids sitting, climbing, or jumping off it.Even if yours comes without a crack, I don't think the wood will be strong enough to withstand the weight of kids on it.Also, the screws that hold the lid closers on are very small with fine threads.They stripped very easy during assembly.There is a fine line between being snug and being stripped.Be careful when putting those screws in.I ended up just using a small bolt and nut.Finally, the lid closers do not allow the lid to close completely.Perhaps, after some use, the springs will loosen up and allow the lid to completely close.Until then, it will just have to stick up about an inch, unless something is placed on the lid to weigh it down.Instead of fixing it, I probably should have returned it for a refund.I sure am getting sick of buying items that are broke and/ or cheaply made.Despite all the negatives, it doesn't look too bad.I just don't think it is going to last too long.In my opinion and based on the quality, this should be sold for around $50.Even then, the manufacturer should put a little more material into the product.

I knew some assembly would be required but was unable to do other than guess at the appropriate arrangement of parts.Unfortunately I didn't come to the correct conclusion and my chairs will never "sit" right.This problem could have been avoided if instructions had been included with the shipment.Every time I use the set, I am unfortunately reminded of the fact that the chairs will never be right.

I researched long and hard for this type of chair and ended up with a set of 6 of these.This chair is offered under a variety of different names depending on the website that you are searching.If you can find the model number you can search around for the best price.I found these to be cheapest by far at Amazon.So far, I am very happy with these chairs.They came within just a few days all in perfect condition and already put together - no assembly required.The leather is super soft and sturdy but does not have that strong smell of leather.The leather and legs are espresso or extremely dark brown.The legs look decent as well but may be a little thinner than some diners would prefer.Also, these chairs are very lightweight and easy to move around.

Guidecraft Creation Station Art Center Review

We purchased this for our children for Christmas, and the day after Christmas it started falling apart. The "wood" is actually a very cheap and flimsy particle board, and it isn't sturdy enough to hold the screws which hold it in place!
First, the hinge in the arm that holds up the drying rack fell out, the drying rack (I should mention) also came out of the box with a broken rod.
I called the company, and they are sending me replacement pieces.
This afternoon I heard a crash, and ran to the livingroom to find the drying rack on the floor. The weight of the drying rack appears to be too much for the cheap particle board, the table top edge that holds the screws is literally crumbling under its weight! So now the table top is ruined, and we have no way to reattach the new drying rack that is on the way!
I must say, I am rather concerned about letting the children sit on the stools for fear that they will collapse beneath them!
I was also very disappointed in the plastic cups for water/ paints and the trays. They are a cheap plastic, similar to plastic disposable cups. I give it a month before they are cracked or broken, and I'm requesting new ones.
I would not recommend this art station. I really wish that I had spent more money and bought one that was more durable.

We bought 6 of these chairs about 1 1/2 years ago.I had gotten a table on sale at Pier 1 and needed some chairs to match.I did a lot of searching and was even open to the look of mismatched chairs, but came across these and went for it.They actually look like they came with the table, which is just an added bonus.Like most furniture that comes in a box, they require some assembly.The back rests and legs have to be attached with an assortment of washers and spring washers and bolts.It takes some time if you're doing several, but it's not difficult.We have 4 young kids and these chairs have not had it too easy, but they are holding up really well.We have had one chair get slightly damaged when it was pushed over backwards and a piece of the veneer on the back of the top part of the backrest chipped off, revealing the light, unstained layer underneath.I had saved the piece to glue back on but just discovered it was thrown away.So, they are very durable, but not solid wood.But for the price we paid it doesn't matter.They look very nice and really could easily pass for a Pottery Barn chair.I would recommend these to anyone and just tell you to be careful about knocking them onto the floor!

Boss 95-Inch by 43-Inch Conference Table, Cherry Review

This table looks beautiful but it is the worst purchase I have made on Amazon. It weighs so much that the company Amazon hired to move it was unable to lift it from the truck and into my home. It weighs more than advertised. The 3 center pieces weigh 50 pounds each and the table top is so heavy that two adults cannot move it. It is useless unless you purchase it and than also hirer movers once it is delivered. The first table we ordered was returned because in transit someone attempted to lift it and broke it. It took two tables just to get it at all. I have never encountered a piece of furniture that was crafted to weigh this much. The mover placed it in the basement to avoid injury and was afraid to move it up the stairs to our first floor.

The table went into the basement dining room because no one could move it. If the top is placed on its side before being assembled it is a threat to small children. It weighs so much that if a child knocks it off balance they can be crushed under it. If you place the top down supine it is a hazard when you need to lift it up again because your back can be injured. After we installed the table and attempted to flip it the sides couldn't hold the weight of the table top and the screws ripped out of it causing the piece to be ruined and the table to collapse. It is now heading back to Amazon for a review and refund. Please don't buy this with kids in your home and believe me that two adults cannot move it or assemble it. This product should never be sold for home use and I doubt that it is constructed well enough to even be safe in a business environment.

This table was such a great surprise! The Features and Product Descriptions do not mention the rack and pinion mechanism for adding the leaf. It's unquestionsably the smoothest moving table I've ever owned. Nor does it mention the leveling feet already installed on each foot. The table is very sturdy, well-finished, and arrived without any flaws at all. A fantastic value for such a low price.

Smith & Hawken® Marlton 2009 Wood Dining Table Review

We purchased this set in 2008 and within the first season it had split and warped very badly. EVERY chair has done the same, with whole sections of leg or armrest splitting off completely (6"+ sections). Most chairs are rendered unusable due to splitting, table has about a 3" warp on the top with many planks lifting. Hardware on several items has rusted badly.
We purchased the set through Target who have only a 90 days return policy. Items started deteriorating after that. We are out about $1800 for a set we can't use and can't return.
DO NOT purchase from this Marlton teak set, the quality was very very poor.

These are very nice chairs. They're sturdy and well-made. If there's MDF in them as the description says, I don't know where. They seem like solid wood to me. I've had mine for more than a year and they're perfect for kids. They don't scratch or dent and the finish is very easy to wipe clean. They are fairly white and the "rub through" isn't overly done. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because I bought a set of 2 chairs for less than 1 is currently selling for. I'm not sure I'd pay $80 or more a piece for them...

I generally don't purchase things online, but when I saw the Terrace Mates Brighton Buffet Coffee Table, it was exactly what I was looking for -- something that I could put in an under utilized part of my livingroom as a coffee table, but raise it to a buffet table when I'm having people over for a meal.

The table fit the dimensions given for it online. Although I marked these dimensions on the floor prior to ordering, the table looked much bigger once it arrived than it did as a "footprint" on the floor.Also, the quality of the wood wasn't as good as I hoped for from the picture.

I think this table was originally designed for outdoor space, and though it can be used indoors, it ended up looking a little flimsy in my apartment. I will continue to look for this kind of table.However, I think I will need to go to a "brick and mortar" store to "touch and feel" another table before making another purchase.
